Johnson

Brand Design

Much like a bicycle the Johnson brand was full of many moving parts that came together to create the finished product.

Johnson Bikes has been years in the making. It began with ex-pro cycling champ Ben Johnson deciding to launch a bike brand. After realising this would be his next pursuit, he got in touch with Yarn to put the pedals in motion. We have been on the journey from the beginning, and yet it is just starting.

Secondary Elements

Featherlight was a secondary sub brand created for carbon fibre elements. The goal was to show what winning looks like.

Range

We created over 14 logos types for the brand for each individual bike.

Illustration

We created 10 illustrations all up for various brand paraphernalia. Using old scans from copyright preceded books we were able to find a mix of design for any occasion.

Cycling Garments

We advised on various design styles before the beautifully austere lycra designs were confirmed.
They lack the usual bike tripe of excessive logo badging and outlandish colour schemes, allowing one to don the gear without being seen as a wannabe pro.

Digital

The website was initially design and built for Magento, however, we later felt that due to complexity Shopify offered a better alternative for our client's ease of use, plugin access and ongoing management.
It uses a standard layout with heavy customisation for product pages to suit the level of data surrounding each bike. Excellent UX principles were used to ensure ease of use and provoke checkout.
